What did people do before the internet and TV? Aside from staring at the wall all day, I imagine they read more books, saw more shows and got better tans, but this is just my theory.

. Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of variety entertainment that grouped unrelated acts together on a common bill. It died out in the ’30s after the invention of the television and we’ve been sitting on our couches in a fixed daze ever since.

A memorable act from the era is tap dancer Weldon Barr O’Toole who lives on in Moon Over Vaudeville

, a blog based on old scrapbooks and news clippings from his life. It’s chock-full of vintage photographs and stories from the family history book that one of Lester’s Army’s own staff has a connection to. Our book reviewer and all-around awesome gal Sharon Cairney is O’Toole’s daughter–we’ll have to pick her brain for any more memories she has of him.
